Position Summary

The Driver/ Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicles (grader and four-by-four), troubleshooting issues, and fixing them aiming at maximum reliability and functionality. He/she will also undertake driving and field assignments and ensure proper maintenance of the vehicle assigned together with the other facilities and equipment in Voko-Faro.

Responsibilities

Drive both the Grader and the 4×4.

Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.

Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.

Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc. aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity.

Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g., leaks).

Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.

Keep logs on work and issues.

Provide driving services to the project staff/partners.

Ensure that the vehicle is always clean and in good working condition and has enough fuel for the next activity

Provide administrative support services, including photocopying and binding, filing, archiving and delivery of mail in the office, as requested from time to time.

Maintain the vehicle has log sheets and ensure they are submitted got accounting in time.

Ensure regular checks of the vehicles status and condition and report any problems to the supervisor / AWF Technical Advisor.

Qualifications

At least 5 years’ experience as  Driver/ mechanic.

Ordinary level certificate or any other equivalent certificate.

College diploma or vocational school diploma in automotive technology or auto mechanics or auto engine servicing.

Driving Licence with categories B and G.

Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles.

Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods.

Ability to use various tools and heavy equipment.

Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.

Ability to communicate in French. Knowledge of English and Fufulde is an advantage.
