The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will be responsible for designing the Monitoring & Evaluation framework and assisting the Monitoring & Evaluation Manager in implementation and preparing Monthly/Quarterly/Annual reports on project progress and will monitor the project activities on a regular basis. The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will support the M&E Manager in all data collection, analysis, and learning activities to help ensure accountability and efficiency from start to finish for all programs and projects, both new and established throughout. S/he will provide technical field support to the M&E unit. The M&E Officer will work closely with Sustainability teams to assess field conditions, support capacity building initiatives, and facilitate the collection of quality data under the supervision of the M&E Manager. She/he may be assigned to focus on Data analysis and support on project progress reporting, program impact evaluation and learnings.

Key responsibilities include:

Support the development and roll out of Monitoring and Evaluation Frameworks, guidelines, plans or tools to guide quality Monitoring and Evaluation in the Project and the sustainability activities implemented or in progress.

Regularly review Monitoring and Evaluation plans, tools and other documents such as results matrices, reporting templates etc., as may be necessary in coordination with relevant colleagues or partners

Conduct periodic Field visits to Project sites and sustainability activities implemented or in progress , to ascertain and promote adherence to agreed standards and timelines of implementation, create greater awareness of reporting

Prepare periodic internal reports by providing Monitoring and Evaluation data and content, ensuring that results are aligned to indicators outlined in results matrices and that reports are results based to improve quality of reporting

Provide feedback to Project and sustainability activities implemented or in progress managers for program revisions and amendments based on monitoring or evaluation findings

Contribute towards the strengthening and deepening of monitoring and evaluation functions in Sustainability through regular monitoring checks of Project and sustainability activities implemented or in progress.

Provide capacity building on Monitoring and Evaluation to field  staff including through training, mentorship, coaching and sharing of information

Assist with materials development in the form of program theory and logic models, monitoring and evaluation data collection instruments, training manuals and presentations

Play a lead role in a Project involving other contracted evaluators and researchers.

About You:

Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management ,Development Studies, Economics; computer science, Statistics, Business Administration, or other related social sciences from an accredited college or university

3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation methodologies (i.e. both quantitative and qualitative data collection, processing, and analysis); training certification in a similar role is an added advantage.

Well versed in Microsoft Excel/ GIS tools applications

Experience with the use of Data Visualization tools such as Looker Studio ,Ms Power Bi or Tableau

Experience in agri-environment issues, child labor, farmer livelihood highly desirable

Strong listening and analytical skills

Attention to details and reporting capability

Strong multitasking skills and solution minded

Shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges and remains calm in stressful situations.

Proactivity and Flexibility

Bilingual ( English and French)

A driver’s license with driving experience in the rural areas

Good knowledge in certification schemes and sustainability standard

Knowledge in Data analysis software such as python, Google Data studio or Microsoft Power Bi will be an added advantage

Knowledge of and ability to design monitoring and evaluation instruments (interview schedules, questionnaires etc.)

Demonstrated knowledge of monitoring and evaluation principles and methods

Experience in agri-environment issues, child labor, farmer livelihood highly desirable
