Core Mission

The Generation Mechanic shall carry out mechanical maintenance on electricity generation equipment in strict compliance with QHSE norms, procedures, operational methods and rules.

Main Activities and Duties

• Participate in performance of routine inspections, readings, measurements and controls on functioning or idle equipment;

• Perform level 1 and 2 preventive, corrective and curative maintenance operations ;

• Participate in verification of manoeuvres to lockout and tagout type 1 and 2 facilities;

• Contribute to control of unit resources and budget costs;

• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental norms and procedures when doing his/her work.

Profile Needed

• GCE “O” level or  GCE “A” level in mechanics or related field;

• Minimum 1 year experience in operation or maintenance of industrial generation units.

Technical Skills

• Good mastery of principles relating to general mechanics;

• Good mastery of how mechanical equipment function and their architecture;

• Good mastery of spare part procurement procedures ;

• Proper knowledge of appliances used to measure electrical and mechanical values (wattmeter, valve opening, thermometer, oil flow indicators, pressure gauge) ;

• Good mastery of basic safety rules (working at heights, confined spaces, hot work, etc);

• Ability to understand machine operation instructions;

• Ability to understand electrical diagrams, maps and graphs;

• Knowledge of fault detection;

• Ability to read and understand technical documents relating to unit equipment;

• Ability to use computer tools and the Microsoft Office pack (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams).
