Role Responsibilities/ Responsabilités du rôle
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of Sud Cameroun Hevea S.A. (Sudcam) in Cameroon, which also includes the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. This position reports to the Group CFO and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sudcam, and supervises the Treasury, Chief Accountant and Tax Manager.
Planning
Assist the CEO in preparing and monitoring the strategic business plan
Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
Financial Information and Regulatory Requirements
Supervise accounting and reporting to HAC HQ under IFRS rules. Responsible for completion and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accounts are accurately stated and have adequate support
Oversee the issuance of financial information
Develop analytic accounting
Ensure Reporting Compliance to “revised SYSCOA”
Report financial results to the board of directors
Handle annual and interim audits and ensure fairness and compliance with all regulations that apply to the financial statements
Cash Management and Funding
Supervise Treasury and Financing functions
Control the cash flow position throughout the company; understand the sources and uses of cash
Maintain the integrity of funds
Prepare accurate cash forecast, and share it with the HQ Treasury team
Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
Arrange for debt and equity financing
Maintain banking relationships
Operations
Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
Manage any third parties to which accounting or finance functions have been outsourced
Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems
Implement operational best practices
Risk Management
Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile
Drive and ensure a robust control within the organization
With the support of the Group Internal Audit, construct and monitor reliable control systems
Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
Tax
With the support of Tax Manager and the Tax Consultant of the company:
Monitor all open legal and tax issues involving the company
Transfer Pricing documentation
Ensuring timely rendition of tax returns
Self-Assessment
Tax provisioning
Timely payment of tax
Ensuring timely resolutions of all tax disputes
Ensuring the firm comply timely with new tax regulations
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
Relevant business experience and 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in Finance and Accounting
Experience in Big 4 Audit firms, and in a major company or division of a large corporation will be preferred
Should have experience in partnering with an executive team
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French
Strong knowledge of Business Law OHADA and economic/financial environment of Cameroon is required
