The responsibility of the Legal Manager for Cameroon is to safeguard the interests of the Barry Callebaut Group legal entities in the country through any required legal means. He/she reports functionally to the Regional Legal & Compliance Director- Africa and operationally to the Country Managing Director.
Key responsibilities include:
Protect the Business from legal and commercial risks by providing business-oriented legal services, including the drafting and review of documents which may generate liability or obligations, paying attention to quality, timeliness and business objectives. Assist all legal entities in business and corporate transactions with robust analysis while minimizing costs and mitigating risks;
Drive the Legal Department’s objectives in Cameroon under the supervision of the Regional Legal & Compliance Director;
Review, draft and advice on contract negotiations with a range of external partners including out of Cameroon;
Engage with the local, Regional and Group management on relevant legal & compliance topics when required;
Provide trainings on regulation ad policies to various functional and business areas;
Effectively build and manage external counsels network to deliver robust support to the business at an optimized cost;
Perform an active regulatory watch and update/train the Business on a potential impact;
Roll out the Compliance agenda, strategy and activities; act as the Compliance champion in Cameroon.
About You:
Minimum Bac+5 in Private/ Business law
At least 7 years of experience in multinational companies or a reputable international law firm at a senior level
Professional proficiency in English
Excellent knowledge of the Cameroon regulatory environment and perfect mastery of OHADA regulation
Experience in dealing with senior government officials or institutions
Solid experience in Labor law and alternative dispute resolution
Good experience in litigation management including related stakeholders
Knowledge/experience in Compliance is an advantage
Knowledge in Data Privacy (Nice to have)
Ability to deal/interact with Senior Management including at the Group level
Good communication skills
Challenges status quo /innovative
Ability to work without supervision
