Overview

The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation’s mission is to catalyze our economic transformation by focusing on social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health and the implementation of progressive policies that together creates economic opportunities for all.  The Nkafu Policy Institute is a nonpartisan, independent think tank at the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation. The Institute provides independent, in-depth and insightful policy recommendations that advance the Cameroonian economy and the economies of other sub-Saharan African countries.

About the Health Policy and Research Division/Project

Healthcare delivery in Cameroon faces significant challenges. Critical shortages in health care personnel, the lack of adequate infrastructure, and the absence of credible health insurance schemes have led to decreased demand and consequent an increase in morbidity and mortality. The Health Policy and Research Division at the institute seeks to address these challenges through research and policy advocacy. Current efforts are centered on delineating access to care and improving on use of digital health services in Cameroon.

In partnership with the University of Ottawa and with support from the Grand Challenge Canada (GCC), the Health Policy and Research Division will be implementing a project entitled “BornFyne-Prenatal Management System” The objective of the project is to investigate the use of digital health platform (BornFyne PNMS) in improving access and utilization of quality reproductive maternal and newborn child health in four health districts in Cameroon. A qualitative and quantitative research methods will be used.

About the position

The communicator will coordinate all communication activities related to the project. He/She will pre-established a well-structured communication strategy for the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

He/She shall work to increase the visibility of the BornFyne project

Develop and execute a communication plan for the project

Draft an edit press materials executive communication and overall management of all social media post related to the project including the BornFyne Twitter account

Update all social media platforms with project activities

Communicate on all stakeholder meeting related to the project

Liaise with communications representatives from other media houses for a wider visibility of the project activities

Produce a documentary about the BornFyne project

Assist in the organization of all  webinars

Communicate about BornFyne on different media platforms such as television and  radio stations

Key Job Qualifications/Professional Requirements

Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field.

5+ years corporate or development communications work experience

Have good networking skills with different media.

Knowledge of strong brand standards across all communications channels.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Fluent in English and French
