The GIZ health project “Supporting the Health System and Familiy Planning for Resilience in Cameroon” aims to improve the supply of the population with health services, such as sexual and reproductive health and rights as well as psycho-social support. The project is working in the Littoral Region, and works together with the Regional Delegation of Public Health (the regional public health authority), and supports the development and the use of the national health infomation system “District Health Information Software (DHIS2)”.
Training of employees of the regional delegation of public health and selected districts in the areas of data survey methodologies and quality management of data
Advising the regional delegation of public health on data analytics based on the electronic data base DHIS2
Supporting the collaboration with technical advisors on interregional and national level in order to improve the flow of data
University degree in social or health sciences, or in a relatable subject; ideally with a major in quantitative data survey methodologies
Work experience with the use and maintenance of data bases; knowledge of DHIS2 is of advantage
Knowledge of or experience with monitoring and evaluation of health programmes are of advantage
Ability to work in a team and networking skills combined with the talent to think conceptually and analytically
Structured work style with a high degree of self-organisation and flexibility
Openness to other cultures and good adaptability skills
Fluency in French and at least good English skills; knowledge of German or other languages is of advantage

Place of residence: Douala, capital of the Littoral region and the economic center of Cameroon, with around 3,375 million inhabitants (2020) the largest city in Cameroon.
There is an international and domestic airport in Douala and public transport intercity buses and national air traffic with good connections to the capital Yaoundé, as well as good connections by bus to the other regions of Cameroon
Climate: Douala is located in the tropical climate zone. The average annual temperature is 26.2 degrees Celsius and the average annual rainfall is 3847 millimeters. Temperatures are between an average of 24.6 and 27.6 degrees Celsius all year round. During the rainy season from June to October there is a lot of precipitation. August is the rainiest month with an average of 768 millimeters. It stays drier between November and March.

Supply options: good infrastructure, electricity and water networks; Internet is sometimes unstable
School situation: there are several international schools.

Extensive check-ups and preventive measures (e.g. on appointment, before the outward journey, during the stay in a country of assignment, in an emergency) are provided to our staff and the family members accompanying them as a matter of course. As a development worker, you can use the project vehicle for trips to school or to visit a doctor or can receive a monthly lump-sum mobility allowance instead. The project vehicle can also be used for personal trips with your manager’s approval. As well as your basic living allowance, as a development worker you will also receive extensive additional benefits during your assignment (including a foreign service premium, family allowances, private group health insurance). To enable you to get ready for your assignment as a development worker and your outward journey, you will be given outward journey leave following your preparation time in Germany. We will cover a large portion of the childcare costs for dependent children under 14 who are accompanying you if your partner is not doing so and is not a development worker or integrated expert themselves. Most nursery and school fees are paid. We will reimburse you for your rental costs based on the rent index for your country as well as paying you an equipment and furnishing allowance on top. You and the members of your family accompanying you will be covered by our health and liability insurance, while your family members will also benefit from accident insurance. In countries in crisis, we operate a comprehensive risk management system for your protection, which minimises personal dangers and risks.
