The purpose of the USAID/Ghana Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Platform activity is to provide high quality, demand-driven monitoring and evaluation technical assistance and analytical services to USAID/Ghana staff, implementing partners, and local country stakeholders that advance U.S. foreign policy goals and USAID’s strategic objectives in Ghana.

The Strategic Communication Manager will be a multi-tasking, agile professional who is skilled in numerous communications mediums and able to coordinate with local implementing partners and communications providers in support of USAID communications objectives. He/she will be responsible for providing the USAID Mission with strategic communications assistance in the areas of content collection, overall implementation of the Mission’s strategy and coordinating local contractors to meet “on-demand” requests, including videography, photography, media monitoring and public opinion polling. The Manager will participate in the full scope of strategic communication support tasks—including assistance with campaigns, events, press relations, publications, social media engagement, photography/videography and writing.
Have a strong understanding of the Mission’s strategic communications priorities and be able to help the Mission translate those priorities into activities and products.
Coordinate the day-to-day interactions with the Mission and team to ensure that deadlines are met.
Coordinate content with implementing partners for such products as annual publications, brochures and fact sheets, for instance.
Help to contribute content on existing USAID social media channels and create content necessary to grow the USAID Mission’s engagement.
Help to coordinate events, including in-person and remote.
Help with logistics and gather stories from implementing partners via field visits at the discretion of USAID.
Respond to USAID requests for content in various forms, including video, written and audieo. Produce various products from field content that reflect USAID reach and impact with a human-interest focus.
Help to prepare content for use in other publications including annual reports, e-newsletters and brochures and videos.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
At least seven (7) years of related public relations, public outreach, or communications for development experience.
Possessing knowledge and demonstrated experience across a wide range of communications products, including written products such as articles, reports, fact sheets, proposals, speeches, success stories, press releases, web site content, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube content; and helping to plan and manage events and site visits.
Ability to travel outside of Accra as requested to collect content in coordination with implementing partners.
USAID, other donor or local NGO experience is a plus.
Knowledgeable in the latest communications trends.
Strong analytical skills to assess the impact of communications activities and products strongly preferred.
