Role Responsibilities/ Responsabilités du rôle

The Continuum of Prevention, Care, and Treatment of HIV/AIDS with most at-risk populations (CHAMP) project was launched in 2014, reaching over 70,000 people over the project’s life. CHAMP is a Cooperative Agreement funded by PEPFAR through USAID. It focuses on the prevention, treatment, care, and support needs of key populations. CHAMP builds on a community-based response to HIV prevention and support by providing services as close as possible to the communities being served. It uses the “handshake model,” whereby clients are accompanied by a case manager from a community-based organization to a health facility to access clinical services. Currently, CHAMP operates through local partner organizations consisteing of one lead agency, as well as fourteen (14) community-based organizations (CBOs) in 7 cities/towns. The Senior Technical Advisor, reporting directly to the CHAMP Chief of Party and working closely with the DCOP-Program in Cameroon, will ensure the high technical quality of both design and implementation of CHAMP project field activities and the documentation and dissemination of the project’s results, lessons learned and contribution to the global health knowledge base related to prevention and control of HIV among key populations with a special focus on documentation of monitoring and evaluation activities. The STA will serve as a liason with the global HER team, as well, ensuring close coordination with the Director for Public Health Emergency Preparedness, as well as with the HER Digital Innovations for Health cluster, to coordinate the documentation and dissemination of the project’s results, lessons learned and contribution to the global health knowledge base and to facilitate global team support to the implementation of this projects,

Responsibilities:

1-Program reporting – this position is primarily responsible for providing accurate and reliable reports that depict the project’s status, activities, accomplishments, and challenges.

2-Program coordination – The incumbent leads with the DCOP program, the coordination of the technical support needed from the HER team and coordinates meetings and facilitates the cross-fertilization of the team member and assists as technical backstopping of the CHAMP project under the supervision of the CHAMP COP.

3-Technical support on communication and learning – The STA will also assist the Communication and Information Officer and the Learning Techncial Advisor in creating and maintaining a series of fact sheets, slide presentations, program highlights, short videos, media outreach and success stories that showcase USAID/PEPFAR program accomplishments, in coordination with the global HER team Digital Innovations Cluster

4-Research review – The Senior Technical Advisor will be responsible for conducting an ongoing review of epidemiologic, basic research and programmatic developments related to HIV/AIDS statistics in Cameroon, regionally and globally
