Generic responsibilities

Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines

Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action

Prepare and develop status reports as required by management

Ensure proper filing of documents

Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific responsibilities

Take day to day responsibility of managing petty cash and cash box

Take day to day responsibility of managing cheque payments

Maintain up to date records, project accounts on the system to ensure that timely, accurate and appropriate information is available and reported

Preparation of payment vouchers for cash and cheques and ensure timely settlement of all undisputed invoices

Assists the finance coordinator to perform cash and bank reconciliation

Ensures daily, weekly, monthly and periodic cash count is done

Assists Finance Coordinator in tracking advance and ensure that clearance of advance is done on time for all Yaoundé office staff

Follow up of accruals and other liabilities in the BRS to ensure they are cleared before 15th of the ensuing month

Charged with remitting taxes to the tax authorities and filing remittances in the finance filing tree.

Ensures that all supporting documents are complete and accurate before the financial transaction is posted by the Finance Coordinator.

  1. Monthly update of the compliance checklist for FC review.
  1. Ensure salary, employee taxes and NSIF post backs are timely updated for FC’s posting.
  1. Oversee the smooth functioning of the Finance Intern


Generic professional competencies:

Have a University Degree (Bac+3) in Accounting or Finance

At least 3 years of professional experience in humanitarian activities in complex and unstable contexts

In-depth knowledge of the social, cultural, economic and legal context

Mastery of computer tools (Windows, Word, Excel)

Good writing skills in French and basic knowledge of English

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

Be able to work in a team and in a heterogeneous and international environment;

Ability to break down a project/activity into manageable tasks;

Perform assigned tasks according to set deadlines;

Communicate in a professional manner; speak and write clearly, effectively and respectfully

Accept new ideas and necessary changes;
