The Opportunity

IHS Towers is growing and we are searching for a new Legal Specialist to join our team in Cameroon! The Legal Specialist will report to the Director Legal and will be responsible for monitoring all legal affairs within the organization. You will also handle both internal and external legal concerns.

Key Responsibilities

Assist and attend to all legal matters and all relevant meetings as may be required, and draft minutes of the meeting

Provide required legal support, assistance and oversight required for planning, execution, implementation and integration in connection with the acquisition by the company of the infrastructure acquired from telecom Operators

Assist with all matters in connection with the site lease and contract transfer process and related matters in respect of the project as well as all other matters in connection with the execution of the project

Formulate legal opinions and nay risk analysis required in connection with legal, regulatory and dispute matters

Draft, review and advise on all contractual and other documentation for the company

Attend all hearing and proceedings (whether legal, administrative or otherwise) and draft, review, report, file and attend relevant documents and papers for such proceedings

Follow up and facilitating applicable permits, approvals and regulatory matters and undertaking all required filings and approvals

Monitor and report on pending and new legislations enacted

Key Requirements

Telecomms experience is a must

Bachelor degree in Law or any other related field

Knowledge of legal principles and practices

Knowledge of the laws and regulations pertinent to the operations

Knowledge of legal drafting principles and practices

Knowledge of legal research skills and techniques

Knowledge of the court procedures and practices and of rules of evidence

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Skills in drafting legal documents/ instruments

Skills in negotiation, mediation and arbitration

Infrastructure or Towers experience is preferred but not required

Knowledge of the African markets (preferably, OHADA markets)
