Assala Energy is a young and dynamic Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company with an exciting operated asset base in Gabon, firm core value and a keen sense of responsibility to our employees and stakeholders.

We are now looking to identify and attract a number of Production Engineers to join our Production Team. Working as a Production Engineer at Assala means playing a critical role in coordinating the field operations to maximise daily production, safely and in line with our environmental commitment.

This work is typically done on a rotational basis, and you will either be assigned to a specific asset, or be a part of our integrated “Fly team” who support the entire asset portfolio.

Your main activities will include:

Promote and enhance on a daily basis HSE/EMS management in production operations;

Ensure critical tasks identified for OPS in Operations Safety Case are strictly adhered to;

Ensure that all activities carried out in the Field fully comply with PTW and AG HSE-MS requirements;

Maximize production, availability and uptime of the oil producing and water/gas injection wells, field facilities and equipments, and ensuring continued technical integrity of the asset.

In particular insure that all routine activities (pigging, scraping, wellhead basic maintenance) are all properly executed and that their respective execution planning are optimized on a regular basis;

Ensure crude oil is processed, treated and exported to sales specifications;

Find the optimal set-ups (wells and process) to reach at the same time the oil production objective and the gas flaring limitation. Gas flaring control is a key task of the position;

Champions daily activities of the OPS Team with the well optimization team & HCA and IAP department and provide operations input for short/long term production forecasting;

Ensure that data collection process is correctly followed and accurately implemented (follow-up of testing frequency and QA/QC of wells tests, surveillance of inputs in Energy Component, completion of various databases and files which will then serve as tools to assist decision process);

Anticipate needs and support for the proper execution of workover and drilling program (well preparation, connection to production facilities, etc.)

Take care of the adequate and on-time maintenance of process facilities (preparation and scheduling of large planned maintenance, organization of vessel opening and cleaning, etc).

Review, update and create procedures as and when needed;

Act as On Scene Commander deputy for the Field Emergency Reponse Teams and participate in Emergency Exercises as dictated by OPS HSE Plan;

Contribute to OPS Daily Production Report (DPR) by providing accurate inputs. In certain cases, elaborate, control and send the DPR;


Technical Graduate (B. Sc. Or Master or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in field production operations, combined with a Masters of Engineering Diploma (or equivalent Bac +5)

Planning and programming experience desirable, well and sub-surface awareness preferable,

Mastery level of RTO software (PI), PI data link and Excel,

Good knowledge of production optimization principles and ideally Prosper software

Proven Leadership, high level of analytical skills and overall pragmatism,

Excellent communication and network building skills,

Fluent in French & English with excellent verbal and written communication skills

This is an rotational expatriate opportunity offered on a 24 month CDD (Fixed Term Contract) base and this attracts a comprehensive remuneration package.
